Theater Regensburg is Bavaria’s largest municipal multi-genre theater with its own ensembles for musical theater, drama, dance and young theater, a puppeteer and its own philharmonic orchestra and opera choir. The charming three-ring theater in neoclassical style was opened as a municipal theater at its current location on Bismarckplatz in 1852. Over 30 conversions, extensions and expansions followed, and in the 1950s and 1960s there was even talk of demolishing and rebuilding the building. At the end of the 1990s, a comprehensive general refurbishment was carried out, which was not just a restoration of the existing building to eliminate defects, but also the reorganization of a confused conglomerate of alterations and stylistic confusion in order to return to order and clarity, the ideals of classicism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The festival’s exclusive stage design is created by Karl Iaro.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iaro was born Julius Lehmann into a family of artists and grew up in Freising. He has had a lot of contact with art and design since childhood, gathering a wealth of impressions from which a line can be drawn to his work today. He later studied industrial design in Regensburg, where he acquired further approaches to people and materials. During his studies, he spent a year each in Barcelona and Porto, during which time he developed a perspective on art in which he sees a place for himself. This gives rise to his objects, installations and poetic gimmicks.<\/p>\n
